Here's Ian Fox little report on how the Same Band got together:

"My wife Kate and I were married in 1969, and moved to Islington, North London. We lived in a flat opposite Camden Passage, a well known antiques market.
There was a music shop in Camden Passage called Howarths Music and I got friendly with a young man who worked there on Saturdays. His name was Ian Bailey, and he was about 17 years old at the time. He went to Dame Edith Owen School nearby and was a classmate of Gary.

We decided to form a band along with a friend of mine called Micky Ball on bass guitar, and another friend of theirs from school called Chris Ostrowski on drums. We rehearsed in the basement of Howarths and that is where that picture [i.e. the photo at the top of this page] was taken, probably in 1974 or 75.
Our first gig was an outdoor antiques festival in Camden Passage in October!! Very cold so we dressed up as fishermen! I'm sure thats where Gary got his inspiration from for the Spandau outfits."

And here's a snap from another performance of the band ... The Pied Bull, Islington, 1975
