Being only a small production the charme of this film lies clearly in its authenticity. Alicija's life in Poland and in her B&B in England is shown in such sympathetic detail and without any false glamour that you can't help but suffer with the characters in the film. Gary plays Aiden as such a charming loser that you really have to be glad that someone takes care of him in the end. Perhaps the film lacks the 'glossiness' of Hollywood productions, but this is not a disatvantage, in fact this is the reason why it's such an interesting and entertaining variation of the 'Green Card' storyline. It's not at all surprising that it has become a favourite on German tv being broadcasted over and over again! |
